Wing started delivering burritos to hungry people in rural Australia in 2017 and has since expanded its menu to include coffee, fried chicken, and Vietnamese cuisine.

Its most recent move might be its most significant yet, with the Alphabet spin-off teaming up with one of the country’s top grocery chains to deliver everyday items to clients in minutes.

Wing’s activities in Australia are based on Canberra, the nation’s capital, and Logan, a small city in Queensland’s northern state, where it made a total of 100,000 deliveries in 2021.

Customers can now get chicken from KFC, Bnh mi from Vietnamese brand Roll’d, first aid kits from the local ambulance service, and COVID-19 testing from Friendly Grocer convenience stores using the purpose-built app.

For users in Canberra and Logan, the new relationship with grocery chainColes adds another 250 goods to the mix, including bread, fresh vegetables, snacks, household staples, and toilet paper.

Wing envisions it filling a gap in the market when someone forgets to buy milk or eggs for breakfast, for example, with the supplies being delivered “in minutes” via drone.
