According to information that was just just made public by the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO), in May of 2022:
Enplanements for U.S.-International air traffic passengers (APIS/”I-92″ arrivals + departures) were 16.764 million in May 2022, an increase of 129 percent compared to May 2021. Despite this increase, enplanements reached only 76 percent of the volume that was seen in May 2019 before the pandemic.
May 2022 Will Mark the Beginning of Nonstop Air Travel
The number of non-citizens that flew into the United States from other nations reached 3.586 million in May, which is an increase of 132 percent compared to May 2021 but a decrease of 34.6 percent compared to May 2019.
In a related note, the overall number of abroad ‘visitor’ arrivals (ADIS/ “I-94”) was 2.022 million. This marks the seventh consecutive month in which the number of overseas visitor arrivals was more than 1.0 million, and it is just the second month since February 2020 to exceed 2.0 million.

International Regional Air Travel to/from the United States: Europe had a total of 5.291 million passengers in May 2019, which is an increase of 783 percent over May 2021 but a decrease of (-25.5%) compared to May 2019.
The combined total for South America, Central America, and the Caribbean was 4.351 million, which is a 43 percent increase over May 2021 but only a 9.2 percent decrease from May 2019. There were a total of 876k passengers travelling through Asia, which is an increase of 256 percent compared to May 21, but a decrease of 73.3 percent when compared to May 2019.
The top five U.S. ports that served overseas destinations were New York (JFK) with 2.33 million passengers, Miami (MIA) with 1.77 million passengers, Los Angeles (LAX) with 1.39 million passengers, Newark (EWR) with 1.36 million passengers, and Chicago (ORD) with 1.03 million passengers.
Cancun (CUN) was displaced as the top foreign port serving U.S. sites by London Heathrow (LHR) with 1.24 million, followed by Toronto (YYZ) with 823 thousand, Mexico City (MEX) with 630 thousand, and Paris (CDG) with 625 thousand.
